Civil War Quilt & new blocks and Chris Botti...

Another block for my Civil War Quilt..getting there gradually and keeping the goal of completing one block per month...

Another of my goals for the year is to complete 50 miniature Log Cabin blocks.. Just completed 10 more from my tiny scraps. I started the year with 2 large containers of scraps and I am down to one !!!

There is a fantastic blog I have been following called Civil War Quilts  by Barbara Brackman. Each week she writes a true story about the people who lived at the time of the Civil War and publishes the pattern for a block relevant to the story. There is quite a following of quilters making these blocks. I have now joined them and they are up to block 24.  To make it more interesting another quilter and I are exchanging blocks each week as they get published.
I have began to catch up doing some of the previously published blocks...

                    Block 17                                                               Block 23

                      Block 15                                                       Block 18

And now for my other passion... music...

A couple of weeks ago my daughter and I attend a show with Chris Botti...We loved it and she had the opportunity of getting an authographed cd.
Chris Botti is an American trumpeter and composer who gives performances all over the world with many acclaimed artists...

I particular enjoy this song "Cinema Paradiso"  when he gave a concert in Boston with Yo-Yo Ma in Oct 2009... Simply beautiful.
